Recently, Beijing Customs seized 30 live beetles in 4 postal mails from Japan.
During March 2-11, the Customs-stationed Post Office detained 4 inbound mails that were declared as “daily necessities” but contained a total of 30 stag beetles (Lucanidae) of Japanese, European and Chinese origins, among which the Japanese ones were seized in Beijing for the first time.
According to China’s regulations, live animals are prohibited from being carried and mailed into the country. In this case, these live beetles, without quarantine process, will pose threat to domestic ecological security.
