[Wang Hua]: Hello, netizens, welcome to China Customs Online Interview! I’m Wang Hua. It’s very common to see female officers at Customs clearance ports and in news reports. They have been beautiful scenery of the Customs. Some friends may be curious about what kind of persons they are and what their work is about. Since tomorrow is March 8, the International Women’s Day, here we’re joined by three female officers to talk about their work and life. [Wang Hua]: So far as I know, China Customs has about 55,000 persons currently, of which more than 18,000 are female customs officers, accounting for nearly one third of the entire staff. Our guests here are three outstanding representatives of them. 03/07/2014 10:07:37
[Wang Hua]: For instance, Yang Jie is awarded the titles of “National Model Demobilized Officer” and “National May Day Women’s Model”; Xiaoyan has been just honored with the title of “People’s Favorite Public Servant”; Zhang Zhe Love Voluntary Service Team is the only voluntary service demo station in the sector of Beijing Municipality Work Commission. [Yang Jie]: Up to now, it has been 13 years since 2001 when I was transferred to civilian work at the Customs House at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. 03/07/2014 10:08:43
[Wang Hua]: Although over ten years passed, I can still feel the air of a soldier on you. Why did you choose to join in the Customs then? 03/07/2014 10:09:18
[Yang Jie]: The army is a big collective that stresses ideal, contribution, hard work, and collective honor, a team with rigid organization and strict discipline, and also a big family full of hardship and happiness. In the army, I used to serve as a nurse in hospital. The 12 years of military service helped shape my optimistic and never-yielding attitude toward life, and cultivated my professionalism, love, devotion and perseverance toward work. There are many factors that prompted me to choose the Customs. Maybe, it was because of the uniform complex in me. People say the uniforms of the Customs are the most beautiful. 03/07/2014 10:10:02
