The Past & the Present of China Customs – about a Close Look into China Customs Museum
[Wang Hua]: So it is also the witness of the reform and opening-up. It seems that it not only has value of cultural relics for Customs but also is significant for the nation. 03/27/2014 10:35:39
[Ni Yun]: Yes. Let me tell you a little secret here: recently, Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage organized some experts in the cultural exhibition circle to conduct acceptance inspection of the China Customs Museum. The experts spoke highly of the cultural value of “Customs 902” Vessel, and some of them even compared it with the boat on the South Lake in Jiaxing. In their views, the boat on the South Lake witnessed the birth of the Communist Party of China and the “Customs 902” Vessel witnessed the re-start and re-advance of China. Therefore, it is not an exaggeration to consider it as the treasure of the Museum. They highly praised our timely collection and protection for it. 03/27/2014 10:36:25
[Wang Hua]: Ms. Ni, after listening to those stories, we have a general understanding of the history of the Customs and collections in the Museum. We are very curious to know what your feeling is to be the first curator of China Customs Museum. 03/27/2014 10:36:58
[Ni Yun]: I feel much honored to be the first curator of China Customs Museum, and also feel grateful for trust from GACC. As one of the first group of undergraduates upon the resumption of university entrance examination in 1977, I graduated from Department of Chinese, Anhui University, and have worked for 39 years successively in fields such as human resources, press and publication, guard, government information, and customs service in the Ministry of Foreign Trade and GACC. 03/27/2014 10:37:41
[Ni Yun]: I have never imagined that I would be the curator of the Museum. Last May, Minister Yu Guangzhou talked with me and told me that GACC decided to appoint me as the curator of the Museum. He asked for my opinion. At that time, I told him, firstly, I felt quite surprised as I knew nothing in advance; secondly, I was grateful for trust from GACC; thirdly, I felt much pressure as I didn’t work at a museum. 03/27/2014 10:38:16
[Ni Yun]: Minister Yu gave me such words then: do the work with diligence and efforts, and be brave and confident. I answered him I would firmly follow GACC’s arrangement, make all efforts to do a good job, and would never let the Party Leadership Group down. 03/27/2014 10:38:48
[Wang Hua]: Now you have held the post of curator for 10 months. It must be a hard work for preparation in those months. 03/27/2014 10:39:13
[Ni Yun]: There were a multitude of things to do for the preparation. However, with great attention from the Party Leadership Group and strong supports from all departments, the Museum preparation team and I successfully completed optimization and improvement of main exhibition area, began internal commissioning at the end of last September, finalized design, manufacturing and exhibits arrangement of special “Customs 902” Vessel exhibition, and completed all approval formalities regarding launch of the Museum, including legal-person registration, engraving of official seals, application for organization code, approval and registration, etc. Now everything is ready, and the Museum will be open to visitors soon. 03/27/2014 10:39:41
[Ni Yun]: Here I would like to say thanks to you, Ms. Wang. Thank you for the arrangement of this interview, through which I can talk about the Museum and the history of the Customs with those online friends. I feel so glad! Thank you, Ms. Wang, and thank you, online friends! 03/27/2014 10:40:11
[Wang Hua]: Well, we also give our thanks to you, Ms. Ni. Wish the Museum a smooth start and constant achievements in the future. We have many questions from the netizens now. Let's have a look together. 03/27/2014 10:40:30
