[Chen Jianxin]: Yes. As the case involved cross-border and cross-region investigation and evidence collection, we were faced with many difficulties. After 5 months’ investigation, we finally made a major breakthrough. 03/12/2014 15:20:47
[Chen Jianxin]: We found that the criminal suspects were very cunning. Firstly, they purchased used clothes from countries such as Japan and South Korea through an import and export trade company in Guangzhou City. The clothes were then transported to Haiphong in Vietnam through a foreign trade company in Vietnam and smuggled into Guangxi by the smuggling gang at the border at a proper time. Finally they were delivered to Jieshi in Guangdong through road transportation. 03/12/2014 15:21:14
[Chen Jianxin]: Upon arrival in Jieshi Town in Shanwei, these used clothes were simply processed at those small family workshops. Then the relatively tidy clothes flew into domestic market while the cotton cloth was screened from the damaged clothes and sold to some illegal manufacturers, and accessory materials such as buttons and zippers were sold to waste recycling enterprises. 03/12/2014 15:21:41

[Chen Jianxin]: Smuggled used clothes have complicated sources. Most of them are discarded used clothes collected from overseas garbage dumps, waste treatment plants and other places. These clothes often carry a large number of bacteria which can be infection sources of various diseases. Some germs might even cause outbreak of diseases on a large scale, which will severely threatens the public health and security of our country. Competent government authorities have expressly prohibited the import and sales of these clothes long before. 03/12/2014 15:22:23
[Wang Hua]: By the way, for your health, please don’t purchase the smuggled used clothes which haven’t gone through inspection and quarantine in the market. If discovering any suspected smuggling, you can report it to the anti-smuggling department of the Customs at any time. 03/12/2014 15:22:46
